Overcoming obstacles is a free, book-and-play, and peer-reviewed, award-winning curriculum that gives you the essential tools to teach high school children life skills using simple and fun activities. With over 300 activity-based, hands-on lessons covering nearly every social and academic skill, students see how to negotiate with others, negotiate ideas, solve problems, and more. Using games, activities, problem solving puzzles, and visual aides, teachers show children how to take action and make their visions a reality. With new and modified materials coming online all the time, Overcoming Obstacles teaches children how to use technology as an educational resource.
The main goal of Overcoming Obstacles is to foster self-confidence, which in turn will help students to reach their educational goals. At the end of each module, you will have a set of goal cards to track your child's progress toward each milestone as well as a final exam to test their understanding of the concept. When you evaluate your student's progress, you will be able to identify areas for improvement. The goal cards will help you keep track of your child's strengths as well as their weaknesses and encourage you to work with them on their weaknesses rather than against them. You can also use the tests as a tool to give yourself feedback on how you are implementing the strategies you've used to teach your child, helping you to identify areas where you may need additional instruction or practice.
Overcoming obstacles is not easy, but it does get easier as you progress. The main focus is to focus on your child's strengths and weaknesses and work with them to overcome both internal and external obstacles. Each module contains different challenges that can be used at each stage of the program, giving children the opportunity to develop their strengths while facing new challenges. With a little bit of effort, your child can get through each module and graduate from Early Alzheimer's without putting undue pressure on themselves or fumbling in their way around exams.
